First day of the 3rd cycle of chemo

We are back at Strong once again, but this time it was scheduled. Florian is starting a new chemo cycle. It lasts 63 days and is completely different from before.

He started yesterday with a lumbar puncture with chemo and a spinal tap. Today he has chemo for 24 hours.
He had to wait for it to start because his urine had a higher pH than 7 relevant to how the chemo effects him. After 24 hours we have to make sure that the product methotrexate is no longer in his body. They flush with liquid during 48 hours and analyze regularly his blood to make sure nothing is staying. Apparently this drug stays principally in the liquids that are in the body. They aren't sure of the time it will take. Older people take longer so they are optimistic for Florian.

Good joke from Vasily which Florian repeats to anyone that wants to listen regarding his pH: Basically I am basic.

This chemo is know to provoke nausea more than other chemo. Florian hadn't taken any meds in the past 10 days and was feeling really well so he was a bit frustrated because now his typical symptoms came back really quickly after a few hours: nausea, headache, cramps,... Pretty much it's not very easy to go from feeling great to pretty bad in just a few hours.
He didn't eat yesterday. He was looking at pictures of food on his computer and told me that he must be feeling really badly to not want to eat since they looked delicious.
Overall he is keeping his sense of humor with the nurses that come relax and laugh in his room.

A little backtrack: since his exit of the hospital (September 6th) after his pancreatis he had an excellent week until yesterday. There was no symptoms and he was getting his energy back. He spent a few days in Rochester with Jill and since that week he went to Buffalo to see his friends. He has a few projects for going to NYC next week. Pretty much he had a great need at this time to rest and see friends after 2 hard weeks in the hospital. His moral wasn't the highest. His pancreatis was really painful: it's possible to not eat and drink during 5 days. And that's not the hardest, the pain were close to unbearable

Let's hope the secondary effects don't last too long and that he doesn't become too week so that he can follow his plans.
